Watch your favourite movies and series; don’t just listen to them!

A leading online publication recently ran an article about which streaming platforms are best for mobile data users. Taking into consideration the high cost of mobile data it went so far as to suggest that some “viewers” (?) may have to settle for just listening to their favourite movies and shows, because the data costs of streaming are too high, even if you select the lowest possible video-quality.

A single evening with your feet up watching 2-3 hours of entertainment will consume anything from 600 Megabytes (MB’s) to 1.5 Gigabytes (GB’s) of depending on the data-saving mode or video quality option that you select.

In addition to what you’ve paid for your Netflix, Showmax or Amazon Prime subscription you could be looking at spending a whole lot more just for the mobile data to watch it. My Broadband recently calculated that the average cost of just 1Gigabyte of data on Vodacom’s network is R16-55.

At Herotel we have already connected over 260 000 customers to our uncapped, high-speed broadband networks. Uncapped means your whole family can use as much data as you like. And mobile data aside, unlike many fixed-wireless LTE and 5G services we won’t throttle or limit your line speed once you reach a certain data threshold.

We have thousands of fibre customers using more than a Terabyte (TB) of data a month – that’s a thousand Gigabytes. In real terms their data is costing them less than 50c per 1 Gigabyte.

So don’t settle for just listening to your favourite entertainment. Stream it and watch it in the highest quality resolution on Herotel fibre.
